A Community of Active Retirees in the Heart of the Alentejo

Living with intention. Growing with peers. Belonging to something larger than yourself.

Not a Luxury Resort. Not a Care Home.

A life project for people who want to retire actively, surrounded by peers who share similar values and curiosity.

A Community Built on Autonomy, Purpose & Belonging

We offer independent living, not dependency. We offer meaning, not entertainment. We offer collaboration, not isolation. Our residents are partners in a shared venture — managing the estate, leading activities, making decisions together.

You bring your experience, your passions, your perspectives. We provide the space, the infrastructure, and the community to live them fully.

Who Thrives Here?

Four resident archetypes that define the Active Retirement community.

Active & Curious

You're 55–75, healthy, and intellectually engaged. You want to continue learning, exploring, and growing. Retirement is a new chapter, not a closing one. You're energized by diverse perspectives and meaningful conversation.

Nature Lover

You're drawn to natural rhythms: seasons, wildlife, agriculture, night skies. You find joy in walking, observing, and participating in farm work. You value living on the land and understanding where food and resources come from.

Values Autonomy

You want independence, not supervision. You need your own space, your own schedule, your own choices. You're a self-directed person who knows what you want and doesn't need a caretaker or activity calendar to feel purposeful.

Wants to Contribute

You believe retirement is an opportunity to give back. Whether through mentoring, governance, problem-solving, or participating in estate operations — you want your presence to matter. You're mission-driven, not leisure-driven.

Spaces That Inspire

Private Accommodation

Self-contained units with living space, bedroom, and kitchenette. Designed for independence with community nearby. Modern amenities, natural light, and connection to the estate grounds.

Shared Kitchen & Dining

A spacious, welcoming hub where communal meals are prepared and shared. Farm-to-table cooking with ingredients from our organic production. Social gatherings, celebrations, and everyday connection happen here.

Outdoor Terrace

Shaded seating areas overlooking the Alentejo landscape. Morning coffee, afternoon conversations, evening stargazing. Open to weather and seasons, a threshold between private and communal life.

Gardens & Grounds

Vegetable plots, herb gardens, walking paths, and natural habitat. Tended collectively or individually, these spaces connect residents to seasonal cycles and encourage daily movement and engagement.

Voices from Our Community

"After 35 years in Amsterdam, I was looking for something completely different. Here, I wake up to birdsong, I work in the garden before breakfast, and I have dinner with 20 people I genuinely care about. This is living."

Amsterdam, Netherlands · Age 68
"I thought I'd miss Berlin. But I don't. What I found here — purposeful work, meaningful friendships, a sense of belonging — that's what I was actually looking for all along."
Hans M.
Berlin, Germany · Age 72
"The Alentejo is beautiful, but it's the people that make it home. We're a real community, not a retirement complex. We decide things together. We solve problems together. We grow together."
Ingrid S.
Copenhagen, Denmark · Age 65
